The Minister

According to article 116 (2) of the Constitution of Zambia, “A Minister shall be responsible, under the direction of the president, for the policy and strategic direction of a Ministry, Department or other State Institution as assigned by the President.”

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) is one of the Government Institutions which plays a key role in the socio-economic recovery programme of the country aimed at achieving sustainable economic growth and improving well being of Zambians.

This means that the Minister of Labour and Social Security (appointed on Tuesday 7^th September, 2021)- Hon. Brenda Mwika Tambatamba, a member of the National Assembly of Zambia for Kasempa Constituency, oversees the implementation of Basic Social Protection Services that seek to provide social assistance and promotional services (livelihood and empowerment) to the poor and vulnerable of our society. The services provided are aimed at enhancing human development and accelerating national development.
