The Permanent Secretary

The Permanent Secretary- the highest Civil Servant in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, is the administrative head of and controlling officer for the Government Ministry.

The office of the Permanent Secretary is responsible for policy formulation and direction as well as co-ordinating activities of the Ministry.

This means Mr. Bornface Nalishiwa works to provide support and advice to the Minister by managing current issues and problems, providing advice and keeping the Minister fully informed. He works amongst many other duties, to ensure implementation of major projects, managing Directors through delegation and progress reporting, managing financial resources effectively, promoting initiatives to improve customer service and establishing effective linkages within the Ministry and with other Ministries and Government Spending Agencies.
